In 1913 a school was built on the present site and came into use on Sept 14th 1914. It had 2 teachers and an enrollment of 25 boys and 52 girls. The school remained unchanged until the 1940s when the Dempseys retired. Renovations took place in the 1950s with the interior and exterior painted, roof fixed and other minor works.
In 1957 the school became a 3 teacher school. In the 1960s the toilets, cloakroom and office (teacher’s room) were built.
In 1985 a third classroom was acquired in the form of an old wooden type prefab. This was placed in the cement yard behind the school. It remained the infant classroom until 1991.
In 1991 the Dept of Education agreed to the building of a new classroom (now the infant room) and a full renovation of the school building which was in a bad state of repair. This work was completed and included landscaping and a new basketball court. In 1992 an official opening was held.
In 2002 Monaseed NS became a 4 teacher school and a prefab was added close to the school.
In 2003 the Dept sanctioned the building of 2 new classrooms which were completed and occupied in 2004. Following that another classroom was added in 2011.
All these extensions means that the school now has 4 classrooms, 1 computer room/library, an SET room and a general purpose classroom. The school has expanded greatly over the past century and more, but the ethos remains the same.
In 2022 an after school was set up in the school to cater for parents need for additional child care in the area. Staff also established a Morning Club to facilitate drop offs from 8:00am. Both facilities are run on site throughout the school year.
